Anne Cohen

Anne Cohen is the Founding Chairperson of the Glass Alliance of Los Angeles (GALA), a charitable non-profit organization started in 1996 by Anne, her husband Marvin, and Richard Sloan. GALA's main mission is furthering glass art education - not only to their members and the public at large, but also by providing students with scholarships to various glass institutions and universities. GALA also raises funds for glass exhibits and institutions that support contemporary art glass - a prime example of their endeavors was the Glass: Material Matters exhibit at the Los Angeles County Art Museum where GALA was a major financial supporter.

In addition to heading GALA, Anne is on the Board of Trustees for the Pilchuck Glass School and the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass, and a member of the MOCA Projects Council. Anne has also volunteered her time to travel and coordinate fine art tours that have taken collectors to various cities throughout the United States.

Anne's education is in commercial art and art history at Woodbury College of the Arts, and she graduated with a B.A. in psychology from UCLA. She has worked as an art consultant placing artwork with individuals, collectors and museums, along with curating exhibitions.

In her personal life, Anne and her husband Marvin have been collecting Contemporary Studio Glass since 1989, along with 20th century ceramics, photography and French Art Deco furniture. Anne's sixteen years of friendships and education from major artists and museum curators in the photography, contemporary glass and ceramic fields led to her unparalleled commitment to contemporary art.
